Abstract
This research inteds to know the effectiveness of Manpower Office in reducing number of unemployment through Job Fair in Makassar City. The research uses descriptive qualitative research method by using inductive approach. In the researc
h, it is done by analyzing Effectiveness of the Manpower Department in looking at the three dimensions, namely (1) achievement of goals, (2) integration and (3) adaptation.
Result of the research shows that Job Fair conducted by Manpower Office of Makassar City has not been able to reduce the number of unemployment in Makassar City. Dimension of goal achievement in time period indicator can be known that it has implemented very well and on time, however target indicator has not been able to meet the objective. Dimension of integration in the procedure indicator has been
running well and indicator of socialization process is assessed as lack implemented, while for indicator of human resources, the outline is good enough. Dimension of the
adaptation in indicators of facilities and infrastructure in the Job Fair, is good
enough and adequate while from indicator of capacity enhancement can not be implemented properly. Suggestions from the study as follows, (1) The Manpower Office need to require and facilitate some companies that participate in the Job Fair. 2) Technical problems should be addressed immediately, such as the absence of information for job seekers (3) The Manpower Office of Makassar City should provide training based on registered competencyfor job seekers in the Job Fair.
